Refiring

Today I'm trying to refire pots from the anagama; I've done it successfully before in the gas kiln,but this time I'm trying it out in the electric kiln,where I'm hoping to get to 1300º...

The Land of Israel

I drove to Terracotta Ofakim in the Negev this week to investigate their brick-making operation, and

left with a couple of bags of the earthenware clay they dig for their use. I'll slake it with some good Galilee rain-water, dry it out and see what I can make with it.

With a few nice pieces: tomorrow I hope to be in Tel Hai (on semester break) building my prototype experimental small catenary-arch single-burner updraft insulating-brick gas kiln.
